Our approach to a power reduction, cost saving strategies and minimizing downtime comprises three 'key' components:

Monitoring your data center's operating conditions is the first step in helping to understand the potential savings associated with better environmental management.  By utilizing the EDX DC-3™ system, we are able to document the key environmental characteristics of your data center, with which we will build a CEP (comprehensive environmental profile) that first focuses on temperature, humidity and air flow opportunities for cooling system improvements. Utilizing these first considerations, companies have been able to reduce their power consumption by 10-20%.  We next focus on power consumption at the branch circuit level, and in relation to your 3 phase power distribution.  With this information we are able to help data center managers make important decisions around future data center planning by providing an understanding of power availability and 3-phase power distribution.

Managing your data center through the use of the EDX DC-3™ web-based portal allows you to better understand temperature, humidity and air flow issues in real time, and to identify issues as the data center grows and its characteristics change. With the results from our assessment and monitoring we will be able to determine the data centers Power Usage Effectiveness and use this equation as a benchmark to help identify and quantify results from energy saving projects. Through real-time monitoring and out-of-range alerts, data center managers have the necessary information to help prevent down time and unnecessary hardware failures, and to reduce the associated costs with these events.

Savings come in many different ways with an EDX DC-3™ solution. Our clients can achieve direct savings through power usage reductions, carbon credits and by saving the associated on-going costs.   With this calculation, your data center will continue to recover the on-going cost savings, as well as to obtain useful environmental information that will allow you to continue to efficiently operate, as well as to effectively plan for future changes. The EDX DC-3™ can also provide a number of indirect savings, which can include the lowering of your carbon footprint, and a reduction of downtime resultant from operating computer equipment in sub-optimal conditions.  While the actual dollar savings may be difficult to specifically quantify, these are both 'key' considerations in the operations of a data center.
